If Lenovo’s new AR glasses can stick the landing I’ll be first in line to get a pair

Lenovo is gearing up to launch an all-new product; the pair of AR glasses for your smartphone, tablet, and computer.

The Lenovo Glasses T1 AR wearable can be connected to a compatible device via a USB-C wired connection and will offer you a virtual screen that seemingly floats in the space in front of you. For your smartphone, this means blowing the size up considerably making it feel like you’re watching a virtual TV.

If this all sounds a bit familiar, that’s because there’s a pair of smart glasses that does all of this already: the Nreal Air AR glasses.

The Nreal Air specs can also connect to your smartphone via a wired connection to increase your display size, and the similarities don’t stop there. Both AR specs offer a 1920 x 1080 resolution per eye (giving you a full-HD image), both boast OLED displays, and both seem to have solid audio capabilities.

Lenovo is promising that its T1 glasses will feature high-fidelity built-in speakers, and after the surprisingly impressive performance of Nreal’s specs’ speakers, we’re expecting Lenovo’s to sound decent too.

Nreal Air AR Glasses

The Nreal Air Glasses look pretty similar to what Lenovo is preparing to launch (Image credit: Future)

Both glasses even look pretty similar – though the Nreal headset might look a little more stylish based on the pictures we’ve seen.

However, despite the similarities, both glasses have their own clear pros and cons.

Competing for first place

The biggest improvement that Lenovo’s new glasses will be making over the Nreal Air smartglasses is compatibility.

Officially, Nreal’s AR specs only work with a handful of handsets that includes the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, and Oppo Find X5. I was told that some tablets and laptops might work with the glasses as well but I was never given an explicit list of which models were/weren’t compatible.

By contrast, Lenovo is promising out the gate that its smartglasses will work with “most full-function USB-C-equipped Windows, Android, and macOS devices.” What’s more, thanks to a bundled adaptor it also says that its Lenovo Glasses T1 wearable will be compatible with your iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, giving iOS users a chance to experience the joys of AR smart glasses.

But, even though Lenovo’s specs will work with more devices the experience might not be as good.

That’s because while both specs promise a full-HD OLED display, Lenovo’s T1 glasses only offer a 10,000:1 contrast ratio compared with the Nreal Air’s 100,000:1. What’s more, Nreal's glasses offer a 90Hz refresh rate compared with Lenovo’s mere 60Hz.

This means that seeing the image produced by Lenovo's glasses might be harder if you're in a bright room, and the video won't look as smooth compared with Nreal's glasses.

If your phone is compatible with both headsets, based on the specs alone it looks like Nreal has the edge. That said you might want to hold off on buying a pair until we’ve had a chance to try out Lenovo’s offering for ourselves.

And that’s not just because Lenovo’s AR wearable could be better than they seem, but because its lower specs could solve Nreal’s biggest issue: price.

It’s all about the money

The Nreal Air AR glasses are without a doubt the best gadget I’ve ever tested here at TechRadar, but at £400 (around $465 / AU$680) I wasn’t rushing out to buy a pair when EE asked for the pair they loaned to me to be returned.

The private cinema experience they offered did make my commute much more enjoyable, but £400 is a lot to cough up when my smartphone already has a decent screen. If I really wanted to upgrade my commuting setup I’d get more bang for my buck by spending half that amount on a pair of the best headphones we’ve tested (like the Sony WH-1000XM4s).

Sony WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones

The Sony WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones offer much more bang for your buck if you're looking to improve your commute (Image credit: Future)

The Nreal Air AR glasses did boast a few extra features that could help justify their cost – like an immersive cycling app and a virtual multi-monitor setup that felt very Iron man-esque – but frankly, they were all a clunky mess.

Before declaring a victor in this fight I need to know if the Lenovo Glasses T1 wearable offers any noteworthy bonus features and, more importantly, how much they cost. If the price sits nearer $230 / £200 / AU$340 then I’ll be ready to snag a pair as soon as I can.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait on the price a bit longer. Lenovo won’t be announcing the cost of the Lenovo Glasses T1 until it goes on sale – late 2022 for China and other markets in 2023. For now, we’ll have to leave the match undecided, but when we know a few more details there’s likely to be a clear winner and loser, so be sure to check back when Lenovo finally does reveal more details.

Malicious Google Chrome extensions installed on more than one million devices

A set of malicious Google Chrome extensions designed to monitor browsing activity have been installed on more than 1.4 million devices, researchers have reported.

As described in a blog post from security company McAfee, the purpose of the scam is to modify the victim’s browser cookies each time they visit an ecommerce website, thereby netting the operator an affiliate fee for any purchases made.

Although two extensions branded as “Netflix Party” have now been removed from the official extension marketplace, McAfee says the remainder are still available to download.

Chrome extensions scam

Although the malicious extensions do not pose an immediate security risk – they are not designed to exfiltrate sensitive data, nor install malware payloads – they do represent a flagrant violation of privacy.

As demonstrated by the surging popularity of VPN services and other solutions designed to obscure web activity, modern web users are increasingly unwilling to part with their browsing data - and especially not, one would imagine, in these circumstances.

What makes this scam particularly difficult to spot is that the extensions all serve a legitimate purpose, on top of providing a foundation for the affiliate revenue ploy. They are also broadly well-reviewed, leaving potential victims with little indication of the scam playing out under their noses.

“The extensions offer various functions such as enabling users to watch Netflix shows together, website coupons, and taking screenshots of a website,” explained McAfee.

“The users of the extensions are unaware of [the malicious functionality] and the privacy risk of every site being visited being sent to the servers of the extension authors.”

In an effort to evade detection by analysts, meanwhile, the operators programmed some of the extensions to begin meddling with browser cookies multiple weeks after the date of installation.

Chrome users that find they have installed the offending extensions are advised to perform a manual uninstall immediately.

Malicious extensions list:

  • Netflix Party
  • Netflix Party 2

Hey esports fans, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 is the monitor you'll want to buy

Samsung is stepping into new territory as it has revealed its very first OLED gaming monitor. the aptly named Odyssey OLED G8 and it’s packed to the gills with features.

The most notable aspect of the G8 is its blazing fast response rate, which clocks in at just 0.1ms, or 1/10th the typical 1ms response rate of some of the best gaming monitors around. Not just that, the ultra-thin form factor and high quality display output make this one of the best ultrawide monitors you'll find.

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 is a 34-inch monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a thickness of 3.9mm (around 0.15 inches), which the company claims is the thinnest for a product of its size. It’s even slightly curved with a curvature rating of 1800R for greater immersion.

At maximum, the G8 monitor can output at Quad HD resolution (3330 x 1440 pixels) while sporting a 175 Hz refresh rate, pitting it against the best high refresh rate monitors going. This refresh rate and extremely low response rate translates into a gaming monitor that strikes the perfect balance between esports performance and gorgeous OLED-powered visuals – so yes, esports gamers can now have both.

Quantum Dot Technology

The G8 comes with the company’s Quantum Dot Technology to ensure colors don’t look washed out at high brightness. If you look at the official Quantum Dot Technology page, Samsung claims that typical OLED monitors compromise on color if the brightness level is turned up high, losing image quality. It also claims OLEDs lose efficacy over time and become more “susceptible to burn-in, or ghosts of images…”

Quantum Dot Technology lights up the display via nanoparticles on every pixel to maintain saturated colors at high brightness while also reducing the chance of burn-in over the long run. In return, the G8 can boast a “100 percent color volume” and can replicate 99.3 percent of the DCI-P3 (Digital Cinema Initiatives - Protocol 3) color space, which is an image standard created by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. At 99.3 percent, the monitor can almost display the entire color gamut.

If these Quantum Dot Technology isn't enough, the G8 is also VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Certified which is a relatively recent standard that came out in 2021 to ensure more accurate color and greater contrast for shadows. Gamers will enjoy AMC FreeSync Premium for fluid gameplay that isn’t bogged down by graphics card latency problems or screen tearing.

Gaming features

As a gaming monitor, there are indeed some gamer-centric features, beyond the intense response rate. The first of which is the multitude of media hubs present on the G8's user interface.

Samsung’s Smart Hub gives access to various streaming sites like Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Samsung TV Plus – also present is a IoT (internet of things) hub that allows users to check up on any device directly connected to the G8 – in addition to the Gaming Hub for direct access to various video game streaming services like NVIDIA’s GeForce Now, Xbox Game Pass, and even Google Stadia if you have that.

We reached out to Samsung asking for clarification on how devices can connect to the IoT hub. For example, does the G8 have Bluetooth connectivity. And what other streaming services are supported besides Netflix. We’ll update if Samsung gets back to us.

Rounding out the gaming features are a few hardware additions. Samsung added CoreSync and CoreLighting Plus RGB lights on the back for a more immersive experience. Equipped ports include one for Micro HDMI, a Mini DisplayPort, and some USB-C inputs. Sound is emitted from a 5W stereo speaker, but not much else is known about its capabilities.

Also unknown is the price tag and release date, but Samsung does say to expect a global launch sometime in Q4 2022. So it’s entirely possible the Odyssey OLED G8 could launch as early as October, but that’s probably wishful thinking. It’s certainly an impressive monitor and we can't wait to get our hands on one.

A monitor like the G8 will almost certainly be expensive. If you’re looking for a low-cost option, check out our best cheap gaming monitor deals page for the latest savings on today's best displays.

The best cheap headphone sales and deals for 08 2022

Cheap headphone deals are always ready and waiting to offer up a discount - whether you're on the hunt for the latest and greatest cups or something a little more wallet-friendly. We're rounding up all the biggest discounts on everything from Sony to Bose right here, as well as some of our favorite budget picks for extra strong value for money.

With every new product release, older generations will shuffle further down the price scale. That's a lot of tracking to make sure you're getting the best value for your cash possible. We've gathered this roundup of the headphones we're currently watching for the biggest offers - and our price comparison software will bring you all the lowest rates every half an hour.

We cover all the best headphones released, including over-ear headphones, noise-canceling headphones, and wireless headphones, so there's plenty on offer. Even still, readers often ask us whether they should spend a little extra for a branded pair of headphones or go for a set of no-name buds you often find at department stores. The answer is - you tend to get what you pay for.

Those $5 / £5 buds can look pretty tempting, but there's often a false economy at play with cheap tech. With poor audio and chintzy build quality, you'll often find yourself going through multiple pairs in fairly short order. Subsequently, we always recommend going for one of the more known brands if your wallet will allow it.

Luckily, you'll find some pretty low-cost headphone deals here, so you won't have to break the bank to find a pair that should last. Prices start at around $20 / £20 on our list this week, and what's more, most of these headphones have been impartially reviewed by us, so you know what you're getting here.

The best headphone deals and sales

Best headphone deals

cheap headphone deals: Airpods

1. Apple AirPods

Apple's true wireless earbuds at a discounted price

Headphone type: In-Ear | Weight: .14 oz | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Bluetooth range: 10m | Battery life: 5 hours **Battery life (charging case):** 24 hours

Battery life is exceptional
Sound is great
One-size-fits-all design
Don't lose them!

Don't discount the Apple AirPods; while they may indeed be a pricier option, recent sales have driven prices down to an almost bargain price point, so much in fact, you can often pick them up for as low as $99 / £110.

There’s a lot about the AirPods that we like. They sound great, their battery life and charging speeds run laps around the competition, and it’s hard to overstate just how seamless the pairing process is. If the prices go down even further, as we expect later this year, they could just be a great value pickup - especially for those with an iOS device.

Sony WH-CH510

2. Sony WH-CH510

Headphone type: Over-Ear | Weight: 4.6 oz | Connectivity: Wireless | Battery life: 35 hours

Impressive sound
Smart noise cancellation
Affordable
Lacks 3.5mm jack and USB audio

The Sony WH-CH510 is our top pick for the best budget over-ear headphones, offering industry-leading digital noise cancellation technology. Whether you're traveling, walking, or in a busy office, these headphones will adapt to the sounds around you and block out background noise accordingly. The Bluetooth headphones also include Touch Sensor controls so you can easily skip tracks, control volume, answer phone calls, and more. The Sony WH-CH510 provide up to 35 hours of battery life, with quick charging if you need a fast recharge.

cheap headphone deals

cheap headphone deals: jlab go air

3. JLab Go Air True Wireless Earbuds

Bargain true-wireless earbuds

Headphone type:: In-ear | Weight:: 3.2 oz | Frequency response:: 20Hz-20kHz | Drivers: 8mm | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Wireless range: 30ft | Battery life: 5 hours

Unbelievable price
Good connectivity
IPX5 waterproof rating
Poor audio

No longer is true-wireless tech a feature reserved for the most premium of buds, thanks to the JLab Go Air - a pair of totally wireless earbuds available for the almost unbelievable price of just $29 / £29.

Sure, these are definitely on the more "budget" end of things, and subsequently, you shouldn't expect world-beating audio, amazing build quality, or premium features like active noise cancellation, but for $30 - you're definitely getting a pair of functional buds here.

Available in white, khaki green, black, and navy blue, the JLab Go Air True Wireless Earbuds feature an IPX5 sweatproof rating, 5 hours of battery life, and three different equalizer settings, which you can use to cater to your tracks of choice. Overall, that's not bad in our books and definitely worth considering if you want to get your hands on a pair of truly wireless buds without spending the $99 that the (admittedly much better) Lypertek Tevi go for these days.

cheap headphone deals

cheap headphone deals: AKG K92

4. AKG K92

Quality over-ears from an Industry giant

Headphone type: Over-Ear | Weight: 1.2 lb | Frequency response: 16Hz-20KHz | Drivers: 40mm | Connectivity: Wired

Great sounding
Comfortable to wear
Budget plastic construction
No detachable cable

When it comes to headphones, the general consensus is that you very much get what you pay for. But with AKG's K92, what you're getting is so much more. These headphones offer a level of sound quality that far outstrips their budget price tag. That being said, these are some of the largest cans you might ever find, and therefore might not be the best choice for anyone out there who has a petite noggin. Specs-wise, however, it's all good. The K92's professional 40mm drivers offer an extended 16 - 20,000Hz frequency response with a 113 dB SPL/V sensitivity level. It has a cable length of about 9 feet (3 meters) and weighs around 200 grams.

cheap headphone deals

cheap headphone deals: JBL Tune 750BTNC

5. JBL Tune 750BTNC

Great headphones which are often discounted

Headphone type: : Over-ear | Weight:: 7.76 oz | Drivers:: 40mm | Connectivity:: Bluetooth | Battery life:: 22

Great value
Good audio and comfort
No waterproofing
Average battery life

Want a pair of extremely solid, Bluetooth headphones that also pack in excellent active noise cancellation for under $100? Check out the JBL Tune 750BTNC.

While the JBL Tune 750BTNC have an official listing price of $129 / £120, we often see them go for as little as $99 / £89, which makes them one of the best headphone deals around right now. For that price, you're getting a ton of excellent features for the money, including active noise cancellation, great audio, and a pretty damn sturdy pair of headphones for the price.

The only downside we've found with these headphones is the lack of the latest Bluetooth support. These are on a slightly older version so don't quite have the wireless range of the newest premium headphones. There's also no waterproofing on these JBL's either, but otherwise, they get a hearty recommendation for us.

cheap headphone deals

cheap headphone deals: tascam TH-02

6. Tascam TH-02

The cheapest studio-quality over-ears

Headphone type:: Over-ear closed back | Weight:: 1.01 lbs | Drivers:: 50mm | Sensitivity:: 98 dB ± 3dB | Connectivity:: Wired (3.5mm)

Excellent sound for the price
Foldable
Can be a tight fit for bigger heads
Fairly dated aesthetic

If you're looking for a cheap, no-nonsense set of wired headphones for your work desk or home use, check out the Tascam TH-02. These fully over-ear closed-back headphones aim to provide a detailed, studio-ready audio experience, but most importantly, retail for just $20 / £20 at Amazon currently.

Tascam is a trusted brand that has been around for many years, and the TH-02 is a good choice over the many nameless and unbranded headphones that tend to sit at this price point. You're getting some powerful drivers here, as well as a fairly robust (albeit slightly dated) plastic design that should last for a good time.

Of course, you probably won't want to be seen out with these giant old-school headphones, but for home use and sitting at the office desk, these headphones will give you plenty of quality and isolation for the price.

cheap headphone deals

cheap headphone deals: Lypertek Tevi true wireless earbuds

7. Lypertek Tevi true wireless earbuds

Astoundingly good value earbuds

Headphone type: In-ear | Weight:: 3.53 oz | Frequency response:: 20Hz-20KHz | Drivers:: 6mm | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Battery life: 10 hours

Awesome value
Great sound
Above average battery life
Pedestrian design

The Lypertek Tevi firmly get our nod for the best true wireless earbuds you can buy under $100, and even better news for headphone deals hunters is that they are often discounted to just $89 / £89.

For that price, what's on offer here is pretty unbeatable. Not only have they got a great, balanced sound, but the excellent battery life, USB-C charging, and waterproofing just make for an overall awesome value package here.

While their asking price is firmly on the higher end, especially when compared to the cheaper options on our list, these headphones look, feel and sound like a much more premium set in themselves. Subsequently, if you're happy to spend that little extra that week, you definitely won't be disappointed with these great mid-range earbuds from Lypertek.

cheap headphone deals

cheap headphone deals: 1MORE Triple Driver

8. 1MORE Triple Driver

Great value wired earphones that are often on sale

Headphone type: In-ear | Weight: 0.6 oz | Frequency response: 20-40kHz | Drivers: 3 proprietary | Connectivity: Wired (3.5mm)

Excellent build quality
Sound fantastic
Rubber cable can snag

One for the audiophiles among you, the 1MORE Triple Driver offers quite simply some of the best audio quality available for under $100, and even better news, they also happen to go on sale frequently for as little as $70 / £80 right now.

For that price, you're getting a pair of specially tuned, audio engineer-approved earbuds that have a pretty novel set of (as the name suggests) proprietary drivers to blast out all your favorite tunes in perfect clarity. Subsequently, you can expect great performance from these, and the built and fit isn't too shabby either.

Remember though, these are fully wired earphones and therefore are subject to tangles, snagging, and general noises unless careful. If you'd prefer wireless, then definitely check out the other great recommendations on our list.

cheap headphone deals

cheap headphone deals: Amazon Echo Buds

9. Amazon Echo Buds

Alexa powered earbuds

Weight: 7.6 grams | Battery Life: 5 hours | Connection: Wireless | Bluetooth: 5.0 | Noise Cancellation: Yes | IPX rating: IPX4 (earbuds only)

Built-in Alexa voice assistant
Active noise cancellation by Bose
Cheaper than AirPods

The Amazon Echo Buds were released in 2019 with an affordable starting price of $129.99/£119.99. Thanks to sale events like Prime Day, we've seen the earbuds drop to as low as $99.99/£89.99.

The earbuds include Active Noise Reduction technology that was developed by Bose and feature an advanced microphone that allows you hands-free access to Amazon Alexa. The Alexa-enabled earbuds allow you to skip songs, adjust the volume, ask questions, and more completely hands-free. The sweat-resistant earbuds provide up to five hours of battery life and come in three different sizes for a secure and comfortable fit.

Dell XPS 13 Plus owners reporting major issues with OLED screen

There have been reports of some Dell XPS 13 Plus laptops having major issues with its OLED screen cropping up recently.

The company has  reportedly been following up with those affected, according to an official statement sent to The Verge concerning the issue. The Dell XPS 13 Plus, which we reviewed and concluded that it was a stylish yet ultimately flawed laptop, is apparently having issues with the screws keeping the screen attached to the chassis coming out.

There has also been a video showing a screen falling off in a Best Buy demo area, as well as numerous reports of the screen dying, showing strange colors, or the touchscreen completely malfunctioning.

According to the statement, Dell has found the issue to be caused by the third-party adhesive used for the screws and since then has been reaching out to affected consumers who may be impacted. Dell also clarified to The Verge that this issue is with OLED XPS 13 models; the old non-OLED screens are unaffected by this issue.

TechRadar reached out to Dell for comment on this story and this is the official statement concerning the matter:

Dell discovered that some screens on the XPS 13 Plus OLED systems may become loose because of problems with the third-party adhesive used, we quickly corrected the issue in our production process. Dell is proactively reaching out to customers who may be impacted to replace the screen, ideally before it becomes loose. Customers can contact our support team with any questions, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Dell Technologies places the highest priority on the quality of our products.

Dell spokesperson

Analysis: What’s in Dell’s future?

The Dell XPS 13 Plus is one of the company’s high-profile Ultrabook laptop launches, and the reviews alone have been polarizing. Our own review concluded that while it’s stylish and sleek, design choices like the touch bar and touchpad are major accessibility issues.

And with these reports coming in of major technical issues with the OLED screen, it certainly doesn’t help with Dell’s image. In fact, this could cause some serious damage to the company’s reputation if not mitigated soon. Especially since this is an Ultrabook model, which is meant to command a premium price in exchange for a high-quality build.

Hopefully, this OLED malfunction isn’t widespread, or it could affect consumer trust in Dell’s other products as well. And hopefully, the Dell XPS 13 Plus won’t go the way of the infamous HP Touchpad, which soon halted in sales after several major design flaws came to light after its launch.

The best Dyson Supersonic hair dryer sales, prices and deals for 08 2022

They're not so easy to find, but Dyson Supersonic deals can sometimes bring those expensive devices down to far more manageable prices. While discounts are rare - after all, this is one of the best hair dryers on the market - finding a saving can be particularly lucrative considering the $429 / £429 starting cost. We've seen those prices drop to $309.99 / £330 on the base model in the past - proof that you just need to be in the right place at the right time to score yourself a saving.

We're helping you get there right here, rounding up all the web's best Dyson Supersonic deals in one place. Our price comparison software scours all your favorite online retailers for the best offers every half hour, which means you're always clued up on the biggest discounts.

Dyson's premium hairdryer features innovative technology that makes it unlike any traditional hair dryer. The Supersonic has a digital motor that creates ultra-fast drying while also preventing heat damage. But all that tech comes at a cost, which is why scoping out those rare Dyson Supersonic deals can be so lucrative.

Stock supply is also an issue with the Dyson Supersonic, which is another reason why the hairdryer is rarely on sale. Your best bet to snag the best Dyson Supersonic deals is holiday sales like Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday, and you'll find those offers, plus today's best prices, just below.

The best Dyson hair dryer deals

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer

The best hair dryer in the world

Dimensions: 3.8" x 3.1" x 9.6" | Weight: 4.41 lbs | Power: 1600 W

Ultra-fast drying
Prevents extreme heat damage
3 precise speed settings
It's easier to hold
Comes with great accessories

The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is built with a powerful V9 digital motor that combined with air multiplier technology produces high-velocity controlled air for fast, controlled drying. The Supersonic hair dryer measures air temperature 20 times a second so you'll never have to worry about damaging your hair with extreme heat.

The Dyson hair dryer also offers four different heat settings, as well as three different speed settings, so you can style your hair exactly how you want. The controlled heat and settings also help with reducing frizz so you can achieve sleek, smooth hair with every use. The Supersonic also comes with three different magnetic attachments so you can achieve different styles using just one tool.

Dyson Supersonic price: is the Dyson hair dryer worth the money?

The high price tag on the Dyson hair dryer can initially cause shock, but there are several reasons for the steep price. The Supersonic is engineered like other Dyson appliances and therefore priced similarly.

It features a tiny digital motor that - combined with the heat sensor - produces fast drying results without damaging your hair. Dyson installed the tiny motor in the handle rather than the head, which balances the weight of the dryer so your hand won't get tired when drying your hair. Dyson also claims that the Supersonic will outlast other hairdryers, so you won't have to keep repurchasing the same $70 hair dryer every couple of years.

Does the Dyson hair dryer dry faster?

The short answer is yes; the Dyson Supersonic dries hair faster and more efficiently than traditional hair dryers. The Dyson hair dryer combines controlled heat with a powerful motor that results in drying time that's twice as fast as most hair dryers. The Supersonic also features three different drying speeds so you can control how fast you want your hair dried.

How does the Dyson supersonic hair dryer work?

Extreme temperatures can damage hair, so Dyson engineered a hair dryer that protects hair while also achieving fast drying and controlled styling. The Supersonic features a powerful Dyson digital motor that's six times faster than other hair dryers.

The motor combined with the Air Multiplier technology produces high-pressure controlled air, which results in a smooth and even hair drying experience. Thanks to the intelligent heat control, which measures air temperature 40 times a second, the extreme heat is regulated, so your hair is protected against damage.

The GoPro Hero 10 Black launched back in 2021, but it still leads the market with its 5.3K 60fps recording quality and high-powered processor under the hood. Of course, all that grunt comes with a high asking price, and the MSRP here represents a considerable jump over the previous generation Hero 9.

You're looking at a maximum cost of $499.99 / £479.99 / AU$749 for this professional level action camera, though we have seen GoPro deals dropping that price to as little as $399 / £379 in the past year. In fact, over the last few months we've been seeing that sub-$400 price position relatively regularly, so you're browsing at an excellent time.

2: GoPro Hero 9 Black deals

The previous generation is seeing some strong discounts

5K video: up to 30fps | 4K video: up to 60fps | 1080p video: up to 240fps | Stills: 20MP | Waterproof: 10m | Battery life: 1-3 hours estimate | Wireless: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS | Launch price: $449.99 / £429.99 / AU$699.95

Extra detail in 5K
Additional front display
Improved battery
New software tricks

The GoPro Hero 9 Black still comes with a range of new software features, an extended battery life, brand new 5K shooting capabilities, and a front facing display. That's a good list of upgrades that adds more to the value than the Hero 8 Black offered, but you'll find little improvement in 4K shooting here.

That 5K option, however, makes up for the stasis of shooting 4K at 60fps. You'll get better clarity and more vivid details with the new shooting mode, and pair that with HyperSmooth Boost (GoPro's latest and most powerful stabilization tech) and it's possible to achieve some amazing footage with the GoPro Hero 9 Black.

With all that new tech does come a shift in the GoPro price, with the new model launching for £100 / $200 more than the previous version now sits at. However, if you're shopping in the UK you can save that £100 by picking up GoPro's own launch bundle which offers up a year of the GoPro subscription (unlimited cloud storage, savings on accessories, and warranty replacement) with the new camera for far less than the action cam by itself.

3: GoPro Hero 8 deals

A more affordable GoPro if you can find stock

FOV: SuperView, Wide, Linear, Narrow | 4K video: up to 60fps | 1080p video: up to 240fps | 720p video: up to 240fps | Stills: 12MP | Burst: up to 30fps | Battery: 1220mAh | Launch price: $399 / £379 / AU$599

Excellent image stabilization
Folding built-in mount
Better mic
Now superseded

This older GoPro was more about internal improvements over radical redesigns. But make no mistake, the GoPro Hero 8 Black is still one of the best action cameras GoPro has ever made.

Image Stabilization 2.0 combats the most chaotic of scenes you can throw at it and there's a better microphone on the device now too. The water resistance is a solid 10m and the shock resistance rating of the Gorilla Glass lens cover has been doubled - especially handy if you're likely to make a mess of a landing or take a bit of a beating from the great outdoors.

So, it's still a fantastic action camera for 2022, and now with two generations ahead of it there's plenty of room for discounts. You can currently pick it up for around $100 / £100 cheaper than the Hero 9 Black. A very tempting pick if you're not too bothered about the latest features.

GoPro Max

4: GoPro Max prices

The best GoPro with a 360 degree camera

FOV: Max SuperView, SuperView, Wide, Linear, Narrow | 5.6k video: up to 30fps | 4K video: up to 60fps | 1080p video: up to 240fps | 720p video: up to 240fps | Stills: 16.6MP | Battery: 1600mAh | Launch Price: $499 / £479 / AU$799

Film in full 360 modes
Now with a proper display
Cheap launch price
Hero 8 Black has better camera

If you want to film your latest adventures in full 360-degree vision then the new GoPro Max is the action camera you've been looking for. Its launch price is much cheaper than the older GoPro Fusion was on day one too.

We're glad to see a proper display screen on the GoPro Max as that was a feature we sorely missed on the older Fusion 360 degree camera. If filming in 360 isn't that high on your priorities, then the GoPro Hero 8 Black is the better camera for you, although the mic quality on the Max is better.

The GoPro Max only requires one memory card now and stitches the footage together in-camera, making editing much simpler and the Max HyperSmooth technology does a much better job at leveling the horizon out - as long as you keep up your end of the deal by not flying over the handlebars and into a tree that is.

GoPro Hero 7 Black prices deals

5: GoPro Hero 7 Black prices

A great camera, with falling prices

FOV: Super view, Wide, Medium, Linear | 4K video: up to 60fps | 1080p video: up to 240fps | Stills: 12MP | Burst: up to 30fps | Wireless: Wi-Fi, bluetooth, GPS | Auto low light: Yes | Launch Price: $399 / £379 / AU$599

HyperSmooth is a great addition
Live streaming features
Takes better still images too
Excellent value now

For even cheaper still (sometimes), you can sometimes pick up the Hero 7 Black - an older device, but one that still shoots 4K 60fps video, and was the first to feature GoPro's 'HyperSmooth' image stabilization.

The resolution and frame-rates may be similar to the older 6 series (we were bound to hit a wall sooner or later), but GoPro HyperSmooth dramatically increases image stabilization with the Hero 7 Black. This motion smoothing technology can be used in numerous shooting modes to record the smoothest possible video running at 60fps. The voice-activated commands are more responsive than older models too. SuperPhoto tech performs automatic improvements on lighting colour and noise-reduction across multiple frames. ProTune options allow you to take the safety wheels off and tweak setting to your own particular style too.

Right now, depending on stock levels, the Hero 7 Black can sometimes be picked up for around $50 / £50 cheaper than the Hero 8, and about $130 / £130 cheaper than the Hero 9.

GoPro Hero 7 Silver prices deals

6: GoPro Hero 7 Silver prices

Cheaper but lacking some of the latest features

FOV: Wide | 4K video: up to 30fps | 1080p video: up to 60fps | Stills: 10MP | Burst: up to 15fps | Wireless: Wi-Fi, bluetooth, GPS | Auto low light: No | Launch price: $279 / £229 / AU$399

Cheaper than the Hero7 Black
4K shooting impresses
Decent stills capabilities
Only 30fps at 4K

Even cheaper still is the GoPro Hero7 Silver - a fantastic budget action camera that still manages to shoot in 4K, albeit at a reduced 30fps.

That's the main difference here between the Silver and Hero7 Black, which will of course shoot in 4K and 60fps. So, you're still getting 4K here and this is generally the most widely available cheap 4K GoPro in 2020 but the picture isn't quite as smooth as on the later or more premium models. The 1080p fps capabilities are slightly lower too and you also don't get the new HyperSmooth, SuperSmooth or Live Streaming features either.

For the $150 / £150 odd price though, this is still an extremely capable, durable, and waterproof action camera. There are cheaper models available on this page though if some of the features seem like overkill or it's still a bit pricey.

GoPro Hero 7 White prices deals

7: GoPro Hero 7 White prices

No 4K, but very cheap for a GoPro with a touchscreen

FOV: Wide | 4K video: No | 1080p video: up to 60fps | Stills: 10MP | Burst: up to 15fps | Wireless: Wi-Fi, bluetooth | Auto low light: No | Launch price: $199 / £149 / AU$279

Very, very cheap
Records 1080p at 60fps
Great build quality
No 4K video

The GoPro Hero7 White is perhaps the cheapest widely available GoPro device that's still around in 2020, going for as cheap as $149 / £149 at the retailers which still have stock. That's seriously cheap for a new GoPro camera, though as you can imagine this is definitely more of a stripped-down basic affair than the newer, more premium entries.

This more entry-level GoPro has the main omission of 4K video shooting. You do get a touchscreen though, and plenty of fps for 1080p standard HD resolution. If you'd be happier with 4K shooting instead of a touchscreen though you might be able to get a similar price via one of our highlighted GoPro Hero5 Session deals further down this page.

8: GoPro Hero 6 Black prices

Still worth a look if the price is right

FOV: Super view, Wide, Medium, Narrow | 4K video: up to 60fps | 1080p video: up to 240fps | Stills: 12MP | Burst: up to 30fps | Wireless: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth | Auto low light: Yes | Launch price: $399 / £379 / AU$599

Captures 4K video at 60fps
Improved image stabilization
Water-resistant without housing
Still fairly pricey

If you can find it in stock, and for a decent price (we recommend around $200 / £200), the Hero 6 Black is a flagship of yesteryear that still manages to pack in a ton of quality.

This is still an excellent GoPro camera with 4K recording at a super smooth 60 fps (frame per second). Image stabilization is super important given the active lifestyles most GoPros record, so it's great to see this model improve even further on older ones. Even the 1080p recording has been improved with a boost to 240fps - excellent for maximizing those slow-motion shots. We expect the price to drop on this one over time with the new Hero7 Black now on the scene. If the prices are still close though, you may as well opt for the new one.

9: GoPro Hero 5 Black prices

Decent 4K shooting (albeit at 30fps)

FOV: Super view, Wide, Medium, Narrow | 4K video: up to 30fps | 1080p video: up to 120fps | WVGA video: up to 240fps | Stills: 12MP | Burst: up to 30fps | Auto low light: Yes | Launch price: $399 / £379 / AU$599

Captures 4K video
Touchscreen for easy controls
Water-resistant without housing
Only 30fps at 4K

The Hero5 Black wass the GoPro we wanted for years. It was the first GoPro to have a waterproof design out-of-the-box, making it more resilient and the camera has enough to make it a convincing update on the older models. The picture quality is better, it has video stabilization and the touchscreen makes it easier to use than any other GoPro before it. Sale items aside, it's often cheaper than the older GoPro Hero 4 Black now too.

An oldie, but a goodie, the Hero 5 Black is unfortunately showing its age now but is still a worthwhile pickup if you can score a deal. We definitely wouldn't recommend spending more than $150 / £150 though since there are better, newer options now which are sometimes actually cheaper, depending on stock.

gopro hero deals

10: GoPro Hero deals (2018 model)

Great value for a GoPro with a touchscreen

FOV: Wide, Medium, Narrow | 1080p video: up to 60fps | Stills: 10MP | Burst: up to 10fps | Wireless: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth | Auto low light: Yes | Launch price: $199 / £149 / AU$279

Cheap for a GoPro
Has a touchscreen
Great HD footage
Lower availability in 2020

Update: We'd imagine this model is going to be phased out soon despite still being quite new. This is because it's pretty much identical to the ever newer GoPro Hero7 White in terms of capabilities. Actually, it's looking like the Hero7 White is currently cheaper! Always worth keeping an eye on this one though as clearance sales should mean potential discounts.

The simply-named GoPro Hero is cheaper than most other Hero models. You're not getting 4K capture options, but you are getting a display and a touchscreen, features many of you might miss from the other budget GoPro option, the GoPro Hero Session. There was an older GoPro Hero released years ago and if you want to avoid getting that one by mistake, avoid models with a big, round, red light on the front as they can pop up in search results. They're not much cheaper, sometimes even more expensive and aren't as good as this 2018 version.

11: GoPro Hero 5 Session deals

The small, but still 4K-capable GoPro

FOV: Super view, Wide, Medium, Narrow | 4K video: up to 30fps | 1080p video: up to 90fps | Stills: 10MP | Burst: up to 30fps | Wireless: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth | Auto low light: Yes | Launch Price: $299 / £249 / AU$429

Small, unobtrusive design
Captures stabilized 4K video
Several new field of view modes
Only 30fps at 4K

The GoPro Hero5 Session is a capable 4K action camera with a minimalist design that pushes the specs to the max within its cube-shaped confines. The Hero5 Session is also a major specs boost for GoPro's tiniest action camera. It now shoots stabilized 4K video and has a variety of new field of view modes. It's more expensive than its predecessor, but it's well worth the upgrade.

12: GoPro Hero Session deals

GoPro, simplified

FOV: Wide, Medium | 1080p video: up to 60fps | Stills: 8MP | Burst: up to 10fps | Wireless: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth | Auto low light: Yes | Launch price: $399 / £379 / AU$599

Small, unobtrusive design
Tough and water resistant
Good battery
Low availability in 2020

The model, simply called the GoPro Hero Session, has replaced the very similar GoPro Hero4 Session. They're the same price and considerably cheaper than the most recent GoPro Hero5 Session. Actually, looking around at the various GoPro models, this looks like the cheapest of the lot seeing as the older GoPro Hero is proving hard to get a hold of nowadays. So if you want an entry level GoPro, this could be the one to go for.

13: GoPro Karma Drone prices

Looking to take to the skies with your GoPro camera? There are certainly cheaper camera drones available, but this is one of the best premium setups out there. You can buy the drone on its own (often listed as 'GoPro Karma Light' or 'GoPro Karma with harness'), or get it bundled with the excellent GoPro Hero5 Black camera (some retailers may start to replace these bundles with the more modern Hero6 or Hero7 models instead).

We've also included price comparison charts for both below, but you may be able to save a bit of cash by buying the drone and camera separately (check out the various GoPro Hero Black deals near the top of this page). You'll find the best GoPro Karma prices below though.

The all-new Apple Watch 7 was unveiled in October of last year and includes a 70% brighter Always-On display, faster charging, and 20% more screen area, making it easier to use and read. The design also got a refresh with softer and more rounded edges and new sizes of 41mm and 45mm. The Apple Watch 7 still includes all the nifty features of the Series 6 smartwatch, such as blood oxygen monitoring, an ECG app, and activity tracking.

While the Series 7 is Apple's latest and greatest smartwatch, we've already seen impressive Apple Watch 7 deals, so you should never have to pay the full retail price.

Apple Watch 6

A feature rich smartwatch

OS: watchOS 7 | Compatibility: iOS | Display: 40mm - 44mm always-on | Processor: S6 dual-core | Onboard storage: 32GB | Battery: 18 hours | Charging method: Wireless | IP rating: IPX7 | Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS

New color variants
New health sensors
20% faster than Series 6
Fairly iterative design

The Apple Watch 6, debuted in September of 2020 with an introductory price of $399 / £379 - the same baseline costs as the 2019 Series 5.

The feature-rich Apple Watch 6 comes with a few key upgrades over the Series 5 - namely a new blood oxygen monitor (with accompanying app) and a brand new S6 dual-core processor, which Apple claims is 20% faster than last year's model. Aside from these key upgrades, the always-on display is back, but it's been drastically improved with some neat new controls for notifications, allowing you to interact without fully waking up the watch.

You're also getting the latest watchOS 7 as standard with both of the new Apple Watches, which is bringing a few new fitness features, and a unique family sharing app that allows activities to be tracked across groups.

Apple Watch SE

A new mid-tier option from Apple

OS: watchOS 7 | Compatibility: iOS | Display: 40mm - 44mm | Processor: S5 dual-core | Onboard storage: 32GB | Battery: 18 hours | Charging method: Wireless | IP rating: IPX7 | Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS

New watchOS7
Affordable
Fairly powerful
No new sensors

The Apple Watch SE  was released in 2020 alongside the Series 6 as a more affordable alternative, coming in at a starting price of $279 / £269.

The key features include the latest watchOS 7, which will enable this device to access many of the new upgrades the more expensive Series 6 is rocking, but at a more affordable price point. Internally you're also getting the same altimeter, gyroscope, and accelerometer as the Series 6 - enough for all the main fitness apps, but you're missing out on the brand new blood oxygen monitor.

All in all, this watch is definitely more stripped down than the fancier Series 6, but considering you're getting roughly the same amount of power on tap as the Series 5 at a lower price point and the new watchOS 7 - it's excellent value and one of our favorite Apple Watch deals.

apple watch deals: Apple Watch 5

Apple Watch 5

Rare discounts on an excellent smartwatch

OS: watchOS 6 | Compatibility: iOS | Display: 40mm and 44mm OLED | Processor: S5 dual-core | Onboard storage: 32GB | Battery: 18 hours | Charging method: Wireless | IP rating: IPX7 | Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS

Always-on retina display
Made of 100% recycled aluminum
New location features

The Apple Watch 5 was released in 2019 with a starting price of $399 / £399 / AU$649 for the 40mm size and cost $429 / £429 / AU$699 for the larger 44mm size.

The Series 5 smartwatch now features an Always-on Retina display - fixing one of the users' biggest frustrations with the previous models. The dimmed display will now display your current watch face at all times, lighting up when the watch detects the same wrist motion that would previously trigger the screen to wake. It also includes new location features like a built-in compass and an updated Map app.

On release, many users started reporting a decrease in battery life quality in the Series 5, an issue that didn't seem to improve by switching off the always-on display. This has since been resolved with the release of watchOS 6.1, suggesting that the battery-saving features of the always-on display weren't the issue at fault.

Thanks to the Apple Watch 6 and SE release, it's difficult to find deals on the Series 5, so if you see the smartwatch on sale, then we recommend taking advantage before it's too late.

apple watch deals: apple watch 3

Apple Watch 3

A great watch at a lower price

OS: watchOS 6 | Compatibility: iOS | Display: 1.65" OLED | Processor: S3 dual-core | Onboard storage: 8GB | Battery: 18 hours | Charging method: Wireless | IP rating: IPX7 | Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS Cellular

Altimeter
Cellular options
Music streaming with cellular
Good value for money
LTE isn't good value
Battery life needs to be longer

While the Apple Watch 3 was released back in 2017, it still remains a top-tier device in terms of fitness and longevity, with run and cycle tracking onboard and a water-resistant casing for swimming, plus the heart rate monitor on the underside. And the LTE version comes with cellular connectivity so you can use it independently from your phone.

You will be losing some of the design benefits of the newer models by opting for this cheaper Apple Watch price. The smaller screen and case size doesn't hold you back, but there's a much nicer option on the market with the latest chassis designs. The watch itself is slightly thicker and runs on an older processor that won't have you blitzing through apps quite as quickly.

Nevertheless, the Apple Watch 3 still stands as a strong smartwatch solution, especially if you're looking for something cheaper to use for fitness or music only. It's far more affordable than the later models while still offering the latest software, and, thanks to Apple's continued support, it's generally found at most retailers. Essentially, Apple Watch deals will center around this essential feature set that offers amazing value for money.

Where to find Apple Watch deals

Apple Watch deals: is the price worth it?

Apple's hardware often comes with a high price tag, and the Apple Watch doesn't fall far from the tree. That said, if you're looking for a smartwatch to work with your iPhone, no other brand comes close to offering the functionality of Apple's own timepiece.

While the Apple Watch price is still higher than many other brands, you're paying for integration with a massive number of apps you're already using on your iPhone. Plus, with all the Apple Watch deals happening and the recent software updates to older models, you can easily grab a great bargain.

Apple Watch deals from phone carriers

If you're looking for an Apple Watch deal with a Cellular plan, a phone carrier like Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile could be your best option. Purchasing an Apple Watch from a carrier allows you to make monthly payments, and you can typically find discounts, especially if you have an existing phone plan with them.

Apple Watch band/strap deals

Bands are not one-size-fits-all-budgets

Wide variety of sizes, colors and prices
Incredibly easy to slide onto your Watch
Can't use normal watch straps
Official Apple Watch bands are pricey

Your Apple Watch literally isn’t complete without the best deals on Apple Watch bands. They make the geeky smartwatch stylish enough to show off to late adopters.

In fact, you’re going to want multiple cheap Apple Watch straps simply because more elegant bands are far from ideal for the gym. Vice versa, Sport Bands don’t cut it at the fancy dinner table.

Everyday in the news, we see new cheap Apple Watch bands trying to become the de facto alternative to the more expensive, official Apple Watch bands, and they’re usually just as good. Trust us, buying a trio of third-party, lookalike Apple Watch bands for the price of one official strap is a relief after paying so much for the smartwatch itself.
